The problems with my domain have FINALLY been sorted out. As a celebration I will have a scotch, Glenfiddich 18 y/o.

The drama with my erroneous domain record creation is still going on. It’s my own fault.

But also in the world some interesting things have happened. Most notably for me is the news that AMD/ATI will be dropping support for the R500 series of chips from their drivers in April. At first I was a little ticked, they haven’t had a driver that’s worked 100% since I bought this laptop and installed linux on it. BUT, my main frustration with this news is that over the past year they have really started pulling their socks up with features and stability being added to their driver.

But before I exploded about this I sat back and tried to chill, AMD has released enough specs to the open source community for them to get a top quality working driver out there. Radeon works alright except it’s lacking in the 3D department. Then I also remembered, I am using linux, it is not good at doing 3D PERIOD. Sure you can point to the improvements that have happened in it over the years and say look at blender and all you can do in that but it still sucks compared to windows for the same task.

So why don’t I use windows? Well even though I have 2 legit licenses for it that I’m not using I just can’t go past free. And with linux if I want to invest enough time to get into it and personalise it, by that I mean things like build my own kernel and rewrite parts of the OS, I can. But, I also agree with LHB about luser zealots and how linux has a long way to come before we can really cheer about it, there is so much wrong with it, but it’s the OS I hate the least.

Apart from that I had 2 semi-frozen red raves and was so hungry come lunch time I was shaking. But I filled up on a lot of dim sum and was good to go again. I’ve also been looking into this WordPress thing a bit more and I like it. I would like to write more focussed posts than just ‘dear diary’. But who cares, nobody is reading this anyway.

I’m running late. I have to get ready for work and yet I’m compelled to stay and set up this stupid blog site to replace my current site.

I’m lazy, my site has gone 2 years (from before I came to Canada) without being updated and what’s my excuse….I’ve been busy.

So this is where I will start gathering my inspiration to get up and do something. Oh, I was setting this thing up and stupid me set up the domain name incorrectly, man I feel dumb, and because I cannot directly access the DNS records (probably a good thing) I cannot manually remove my mistake and have to ask my hosting provider for help.

I’ll try update this thing a little more often than once every two years. But for now, it is what it is.
